Okpai, Delta State – In a significant political development that has stirred conversation across Delta State, the Honourable Member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, addressed constituents at a crucial Ward 4 meeting held earlier today in Okpai, Ndokwa East Local Government Area.

The emergency gathering came in the wake of the defection of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, and his predecessor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The move has created a wave of uncertainty and speculation among Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters across the state.

Rt. Hon. Ezechi began his address with a moment of worship and praise, setting a solemn tone before delving into the purpose of the meeting — to clarify the reasons behind the high-profile defections and rally support for the evolving political direction.

He revealed that both the incumbent and former governors made a “strategic and necessary” decision to align with the APC, citing the collapse of the PDP’s national structure as a driving factor. “The PDP has been infiltrated by bad elements who have weakened the party’s foundation,” Ezechi stated. “If we continue like this, the state is at risk of being destroyed politically.”

The lawmaker emphasized that the move was made to safeguard Delta State’s political and developmental future, urging party faithfuls to understand and support the transition. “I want to assure you all that our Governor has made the right decision. I stand firmly with him,” he declared.

Ezechi called on his supporters to rally behind Governor Oborevwori and throw their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, signaling a new alignment and political direction for the state’s leadership.

“This is the time to join hands and work together for progress. We must ensure that Delta remains on the path of development and stability,” he concluded.
