In a proactive move to bolster Edo State’s chances of securing medals at the upcoming 2025 National Sports Festival, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, engaged with coaches from various sports at the commission’s media center on Thursday.
In a statement released by his Media Officer, Mr. Edoko Wilson Edoko, Enabulele underscored the importance of strategic preparation, emphasizing that Team Edo must aim for top honors. He gathered feedback from coaches, assessing their current strengths and challenges as part of the state’s preparation for the competition.
“We are not just going to the festival to participate; we are going to win medals. It will not be business as usual because our amiable Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is deeply committed to advancing sports in Edo State,” Enabulele stated.
He further stressed that success is a collective responsibility, urging coaches to deliver tangible results in exchange for the commission’s full support.
“This is critical to our progress,” he added.
Enabulele encouraged the coaches to approach the festival with unwavering determination.
“Go out there and bring back results. We are eager to collect as many medals as possible and emerge as the top team,” he charged.
He reassured the coaches that under his leadership, the commission remains committed to swiftly addressing any challenges affecting their performance.
“Our core mandate, in line with the vision of Governor Monday Okpebholo and Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, is to restore Edo State’s prominence in sports at both national and international levels.”
Concluding the engagement, Enabulele urged the coaches to work collaboratively to ensure Team Edo’s success, reinforcing the state’s commitment to fostering an environment that prioritizes sports development.
The 2025 National Sports Festival is set to take place in Abeokuta, Ogun State, from May 16 to May 30, 2025.
