After intensed scrutiny and cross examination, the Cross River state House of Assembly has confirmed 11 out of the 26 Commissioner nominees sent to the House for confirmation by the State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Bassey Otu.

The Speaker of Assembly, Rt Hon. Elvert Ayambem said the 26 nominees will be confirmed in three batches for effective interrogation of Commissioners designates.
RT. Hon. Ayambem admonished will-be Commissioners to synergize with the House when assigned portfolios.

According to the report from House Committee on Judiciary, Public Service Matters, Public Petitions and Conflict Resolution presented during plenary by her Chairman, Rt Hon Davies Etta, he said confirmed nominees had met all constitutional requirements, found fit and proper to discharge their responsibilities credibly for the good of Cross Riverians.

Speaking to journalist after their confirmation, some Commissioner designate including Sen. Stephen Odey, Dr. Mathias Unimke Angioha and Hon. Abubakar Ewa expressed appreciation to God and Governor Otu for the rare privilege to serve in the State Executive Council with assurances of dedication to duties.


Those confirmed thus far includes, Sen. Stephen Odey, Dr Justin Beshel, Hon Agnes Atsu, Mrs. Abigail Duke and Hon Lawrencia Ita.

Others are, Barr Ededem Ani, Dr Mathias Unimke Angioha, Dr Hipolatus Ogar Lukpata, Hon Moses Osogi, Chief Felix Idem and Hon Ewa Robert Abubakar.

The House of Assembly under leadership of RT. Hon. Elvert Ayambem remains committed to confirming outstanding nominees for accelerated governance in line with people first mantra of the current administration in the state.
