The newly elected Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike has been honoured with the People’s Security Monitor award as First Female Chairman of NUJ Abuja Council, after 41 years.

Grace Ike, who emerged the first female chairman of the council after 43 years, received the award in recognition of her ingenuity, consciousness, managerial prowess and total commitment to the welfare of Nigeria journalists.

She was presented with an award certificate and decorated with a gold medal as she was supported by the Vice Chairman of the council, Comrade Yahaya Ndambabo and other stakeholders.

The first female chairman popularly called Mama Welfare and Miss NUJ dedicated the award to God Almighty and all journalists in the FCT.

The People’s Security Monitor is a top-notch independent radio programme and online media platform with a wide listenership and immense influence on social media in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and other states of the federation.

It essentially serves as a social vehicle to create a formidable platform between the people and the security agencies, aiming to reduce insecurity to the barest minimum in Nigeria.
