Benue Assembly Set Up Adhoc To Scrutinize 23 Council Chairmen Expenditures
The Benue State House of Assembly, headed by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alfred Berger Emberga has set up an ad hoc committee to scrutinise the income and expenditures of the 23 local government council chairpersons.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Zape Michael Upaa, in a statement on Wednesday, said the 8th House majority leader, Sir Thomas Dugeri, chaired the committee.
The statement said Speaker Emberga has mandated the committee to commence work immediately and submit its report within 21 working days.
According to the statement, “The Benue State House of Assembly, during its Tuesday Plenary on 31 March 2026, set up an ad-hoc committee to scrutinise the income and expenditures of the 23 Local Government Council Chairmen. The committee has: (1) Majority Leader Hon. Sir Thomas Dugeri as Chairman. (2) Hon. Cyril Ikong, Majority Chief Whip, as Vice Chairman. (3) Rt. Hon. Abu James Omoru, Deputy Majority Leader – Member (4) , Hon. Isaac Ochekliye, Minority Leader – Member, (5) Hon. Bemdoo Peter Ipusu – Member, (6) Hon. Terna Emmanuel Shimawua – Member, (7) Hon. Elias Audu – Member, (8) Mr Gever Daniel, Secretary and Mr Tsav Michael, Assistant Secretary.”
The statement added, “The Speaker, Rt, has mandated the Committee. Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga, MNIQS, RQS, to commence work immediately and submit its report within 21 working days,” Upaa said.
