Adeola Urges Supporters Not To Fight On Behalf

The senator representing Ogun West and chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Solomon Adeola, has urged his supporters not to attack any other aspirant on his behalf ahead of the 2027 governorship race in the state.

Adeola made the appeal when he reacted to recent statements and opinions, particularly on social media, arising from declarations by some respected citizens in the state for the 2027 governorship seat.

In a statement personally signed by the senator yesterday, Adeola said he has, however, not made any official statement regarding any aspirant’s aspiration or responded to the unprovoked media attacks against his person or political career.

He added that he has also neither authorised anyone to respond to such attacks on his behalf.

The senator stated that “I am presently focused on serving my constituents in Ogun West Senatorial District, Ogun State and indeed, Nigeria. It is not in my character to derogate, demean or ridicule any of my fellow party members on the basis of their genuine aspirations.

“In view of this, I want to appeal to all my teeming supporters, well-wishers and loyalists to desist from attacking the person or ideals of any aspirant, ostensibly in my defense or support.

“This appeal is pursuant to a rancour-free process for all the upcoming activities of our party, APC, as we progress towards the general elections.

“I passionately appeal to all my supporters and party members to always bear in mind that we are all members of a great political family and we must eschew bitterness and rancour in our relationship.

“While I greatly appreciate the genuine love and support for me by my supporters, I urge restraint and caution in the days ahead.

“I urge all my supporters and loyalists not to be distracted and remain focused with eyes on the ball and the goal we have envisioned for our state for over a decade.

“Going forward, let us continue to showcase the work that has been done by my humble self, the governor of our state, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, under the Renewed Hope Agenda as we move toward party primaries and general elections in less than a year’s time.

“Our focus should be on continuity of the ongoing reforms of our great party, APC, at both the state and national level and not on any unproductive internal bickering.”——–

No Plan To Action Against Gwarzo – Hon. Dala

The Kano State House of Assembly has said it has no immediate plan to take action against the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Abdulsalam Aminu Gwarzo, despite his decision to remain in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) following Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Husseini Lawan Dala, stated this while addressing journalists amid speculations over the political implications of the governor and his deputy belonging to different political parties.

Dala said the Assembly had neither received any communication from the deputy governor nor deliberated on any plan to initiate impeachment proceedings.

“As I am talking to you now, nothing, nothing, nothing. The House has no plan. The House does not intend to do anything,” he said.

He, however, acknowledged that the situation of a governor and deputy governor operating from different political platforms may not sound well, noting that political developments could unfold in due course.

“Definitely something may happen, but as of now, we have not had anything before the House,” he added.

The Majority Leader stressed that should the Assembly decide to act, such a move would be made public.

 “We cannot do it quietly. It has to be made known to everybody that the House is doing something,” he said.

Dala also stated that the deputy governor has not indicated any intention to resign from office.

“If the deputy governor himself feels it is unwise for him to remain in office serving under a governor from another party, he can decide to resign. But we have not received anything from him,” he said.

On whether he had personal advice for the deputy governor, the lawmaker declined to comment publicly, saying any counsel would be offered privately.

“It may not be wise to go on air calling him to resign or asking him to remain. If I have any advice, I will give it to him personally,” he stated.
