2024 NSF: Team Edo Harvests More Gold at Gateway Games

Edo State continues its impressive performance at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Ogun State, led by the Edo State Sports Commission and its Executive Chairman, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele.
Jerry Igbinosu clinched gold in the 80kg KungFu category at the Civic Centre, Ikenne.
Edo’s women’s 4x200m freestyle relay team—Yinlayefa Edenotu, Nkonye Chukwunedum, Peremoboere Kimikiagha, and Victoria Ajakaiye—shone at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, winning silver.
Louis Owie also made a strong showing, finishing second in the 100m backstroke heat.
In badminton, Team Edo secured silver at the Alake Sports Centre.
Henry Aghomon took silver in Dart 301 (male), while Robert Jegede clinched bronze in Dart TDB (male).
In tennis, Omotayo Blessing advanced to the second round in the women’s singles, while Chima won his opening match in the men’s singles and awaits his next opponent.
In cycling, Isa Momoh earned silver in the 1km sprint, while Divine Ogbe secured bronze in the same event.
Meanwhile, in kung fu, Charles Chuka-Ikani claimed silver in the -56kg category, similarly, Esohe Idah won a gold medal in the -75kg in KungFu.
Edo State’s outstanding performances continue to reaffirm their strong presence at the Festival.
