A former chairman of Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira, has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, seeking to represent Surulere Constituency II.

Apatira, who served two terms as chairman of the LCDA, made his ambition known on Wednesday amid growing support from political associates and community members in Itire and the wider Surulere axis.

He said, “My decision to run for the Surulere Constituency II seat at the Lagos State House of Assembly is informed by my passion to serve my people.”

According to endorsements by party leaders and members within the constituency, Apatira is widely regarded as a “tested and trusted leader,” with advocates highlighting his familiarity with local issues and his continued residence in Itire as a sign of commitment to his roots.

Backers also emphasised his leadership style, noting attributes such as accessibility, empathy, and what they described as a capacity to engage effectively with people across different social strata.

Apatira’s supporters have urged party stakeholders and constituents to rally behind his candidacy, expressing confidence in his chances of securing the party ticket and winning the seat.

The Surulere Constituency II seat is expected to attract keen interest ahead of the next legislative elections, with Apatira’s declaration positioning him among early contenders in the race.
