A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Omowumi Ogunlola, has said her priority will always be development of Ekiti State and empowerment of the people.

Ogunlola, who is a member of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) promised to continue to serve the state in every capacity that will ensure her all round development.

Addressing a press conference in Ado-Ekiti at the weekend on the recent discussions and speculations concerning her political ambition and the 2027 elections, the lawyer turned politician said she has no plan of vying for the 2027 House of Representatives contest in the state.

The former lawmaker who represented Ijero/Ekiti West/Efon Federal Constituency between 2019–2023, expressed her profound gratitude to Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his continuous support, guidance, and encouragement said his partnership has been invaluable to her personally, and to  the  shared vision for the progress of Ekiti State.

The former member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly said, “I have formally briefed him on my position regarding these matters, and I deeply appreciate his understanding and wise counsel.

“To my supporters, political associates, and members of our great political family: your trust, confidence, and encouragement mean so much to me. I want to assure you that the empowerment programmes and initiatives you have come to depend on will not stop. Our commitment to the development and well-being of our people remains unwavering.

“Let me be very clear: I will not be contesting for the House of Representatives in 2027,” she said.

She said, “The future remains open, and I will continue to serve Ekiti State in every capacity I can, always prioritizing the collective interest of our people above personal ambition.

“As a serving Federal Commissioner representing Ekiti State at the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), I am currently entrusted with a critical national responsibility at a very strategic time.

“The Commission plays a key role in revenue allocation and fiscal matters that directly impact states, including Ekiti. With important exercises and engagements ahead, it is imperative that Ekiti maintains strong, stable, and effective representation at that level.

“By constitutional and ethical provisions, anyone seeking to contest an elective office must resign from such a position. That is not a decision to be taken lightly.

“Resignation at this time could have implications for Ekiti State’s interests, and 1 firmly believe that Ekiti is bigger than any individual ambition.’’
