1.7 million benefit as Yari expands Zamfara food relief, rally support for Tinubu
Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari, has expanded his humanitarian intervention programme by distributing 145 truckloads of maize and 42, 000 bags of semovita to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and vulnerable households across the state.
The latest intervention, announced on Saturday by the Chairman of the Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar Palliative Distribution Committee, Lawal Liman, follows what the committee described as three years of sustained food and relief support that has reached more than 1. 7 million beneficiaries across Zamfara.
Speaking after a committee meeting in Gusau, Liman said the food distribution would cover all 14 local government areas of the state, with each council allocated 10 truckloads of maize and 3, 000 bags of 10kg semovita.
He added that the remaining truckloads would be deployed to reinforce the distribution and ensure assistance reaches communities hardest hit by economic hardship.
According to him, about 210, 210,000 residents across Zamfara’s 147 political wards are expected to benefit from the current phase of the programme.
Liman said the intervention underscores Yari’s continued commitment to supporting vulnerable families amid prevailing economic challenges, describing it as part of a broader humanitarian initiative that has consistently provided food items, agricultural inputs and other relief materials across the state.
He said the programme has grown into one of the largest privately driven humanitarian interventions in Zamfara, with cumulative beneficiaries exceeding 1. 7 million over the past three years.
The committee chairman also appealed to residents to continue praying for President Bola Tinubu and Senator Yari, asking for divine wisdom and strength for them in addressing Nigeria’s economic and security challenges, particularly the persistent insecurity in the North.
