In a significant move aimed at advancing the development interests of Isoko Nation, the leadership of the Isoko Development Union (IDU) has met with the Office of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in Abuja to formally present concerns regarding the alleged marginalization of the Isoko ethnic nationality.
The meeting followed a formal correspondence initiated by the Niger Delta Development Agenda (NDDA), convened by Iteveh Nurudeen Ekpokpobe, calling for federal attention to issues affecting the socio-economic and political advancement of Isoko people.
The IDU delegation was led by its President General, Chris Akpotu, and included notable leaders such as IDU Grand Patron Iduh Amadhe, 2nd Vice President Dan Odhomo, IDU Youth President Joe Emeni, legal practitioner Mary Erijo, and the President of the Abuja Branch of the Union, Simeon Enajedu.
Also present at the engagement were representatives of the NDDA team, including Tamunotonye Inioribo, Coordinator for Rivers State; Erhagbai Jide, Coordinator for Edo State; Faith Johnny, Women Coordinator; and Urude Barthlomew, Coordinator for Delta State.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Isoko leadership to articulate their concerns and advocate for equitable development, inclusion, and recognition within the broader national framework.
Observers believe the engagement could open new channels of dialogue between the federal government and Isoko stakeholders on matters affecting infrastructure development, economic inclusion, and representation in national affairs.
